The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) released its classifications for the 2024/2025 high school football season on Monday after releasing its initial enrollment figures previously.

Schedules for the two year cycle also covering 2025/2026 are expected to be released in early February.

Class A moves from 31 to 32 schools, with new additions Omaha Westview and Omaha Buena Vista joining the fray from Class B.

Gretna will drop to Class B over the next two seasons at least and has left the Metro Conference in non-football related activities. Platteview will join Class B in 2024/2025, up from Class C-1. Lincoln Standing Bear will play its first season of varsity competition next fall. In total, Class B will have 25 schools competing next season.

Schuyler, Alliance, Mount Michael, and Nebraska City have opted down to Class C-1 and will be playoff ineligible for at least the first season of the two-year cycle. In total, 35 schools will compete in Class C-1. 2022 Class B runner-up Omaha Gross drops to Class C-1. Newcomers include a co-op between Omaha Brownell-Talbot, Cornerstone Christian, and Quest Academy along with Chase County, Milford, Louisville, and Wilber-Clatonia. The latter four programs are up from Class C-2.

Arlington drops from Class C-1 to a 36-school Class C-2 along with Raymond Central. Conestoga and Palmyra will take part in 11-man football after spending time in eight man competition.

David City, Johnson County Central, Wakefield, Twin River, Tri County, Alma, and West Holt will be playoff ineligible in Eight Man-1 for at least the first year of the cycle.

Pawnee City and South Platte will opt to six man and not be eligible for the playoffs.

Elba will only field a six man junior varsity squad in 2024/2025, while WInnebago and Omaha Nation will continue to participate in the All-Nations League with schools in South Dakota.
