Elkhorn South gets a shot at No. 6 Creighton Prep in Week 7 with its visit to Burke Stadium. Kearney stays put at No. 10 after a 27-23 loss to No. 5 Bennington. The Bearcats were up 23-7 in the third quarter before Bennington’s furious rally.

The only other movement this week came with Grand Island Northwest entering the Top 10 at No. 9 to replace Ralston, with Elkhorn dropping to No. 10 despite its 2-4 record. Ralston falls out this week after a 57-37 loss to No. 2 Gretna East on Thursday night. No. 4 Scottsbluff hosts No. 6 Aurora in Week 7.

It was a game that could have easily gone either way, but Bergan Catholic’s defense stepped up late to preserve the victory. Hershey gets the nod over 5-1 Fillmore Central and comes in at No. 10 this week to replace Scotus Central Catholic. Hershey gets an immediate test from 4-2 Mitchell. No. 4 Yutan at No. 6 Bishop Neumann will be another C-2 headliner in Week 7.

Comments: Got some eyes on No. 4 Hartington-Newcastle in a 84-42 Week 6 win over Gordon-Rushville. The WIldcats are hard to stop on offense. Centura comes back in at No. 9 this week, while Ponca did enough in a 38-6 win over former No. 9 Wisner-Pilger to enter at No. 10. Wisner-Pilger and Elmwood-Murdock fall out this week after Week 6 losses. There are plenty of interesting games in Week 7 with No. 5 Stanton’s visit to Ponca the pick of the lot.

Comments: Moving a team in after a loss is not normal, but Bertrand was ahead for pretty much the whole in a narrow 20-18 loss to No. 5 Loomis. Arapahoe might be the best of the 3-3 teams in D-2 after knocking South Loup out of the Top 10 with a dominating 38-0 victory with all points being scored in the first half. The bottom part of the Top 10 has been a crapshoot at best this season. It will continue to be that way for the rest of the season. Lourdes Central Catholic falls one spot after a loss to No. 1 Shelby-Rising City with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge leaping into No. 8. In Week 7, No. 6 East Butler gets a shot at top-ranked Shelby-Rising City.

Southwest fell two spots after a loss to No. 5 Wallace. No. 9 Medicine Valley will have a Week 7 battle with No. 4 Arthur County.
