Lifelong dreams were realized on Wednesday, December 3 as high school football prospects from the state of Nebraska signed national letters of intent with Division I schools.
The headliner in the Class of 2026 out of the Cornhusker State is Alabama quarterback signee Jett Thomalla of Millard South. Thomalla rewrote the passing record book during his career, throwing for 10,253 yards and 134 touchdowns. As a senior in leading Millard South to back-to-back state championships in Class A, Thomalla threw for 3,484 yards and a state record 58 touchdowns.
Thomalla was one of nine Millard South athletes to sign with Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools on Wednesday. Running back Nelsyn Wheeler and Landen Von Seggern are headed to Illinois, tight end Isaac Jensen will play in the SEC at Missouri, wide receiver Amarion Jackson signed with Iowa State, while both tight end Dallas Gaius and defensive end Solomon Baker are going out west to play at Fresno State.
Iowa State also inked four other prospects from Nebraska in the Class of 2026. Elkhorn North linebacker Barry Fries, Sidney linebacker Keian Kaiser, cornerback Tyrell Chatman of Lincoln North Star, and Omaha Westside defensive back Bryson Williams will join Jackson in Ames.
Teaming up with Gaius and Baker at Fresno State is Elkhorn South’s Jaydon Sutko, who projects as a linebacker in college. Sutko rushed for 1,568 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior while leading the Storm to the Class A quarterfinals.
Omaha North cornerback Darion Jones signed with Iowa after he intercepted 12 passes over his high school career. Staying in the B1G, Norfolk Catholic 6-foot-8 offensive tackle Leighton Burbach has signed with Northwestern.

Papillion-La Vista South long snapper Sam Dolphens and Omaha Central athlete Kaprice Keith have signed with Kansas State.
Northern Illinois secured the signing of Bellevue West wide receiver Jermaine Green, while Gering’s Bo Gable signed forms to attend the University of Wyoming.
Three Nebraska athletes have signed to attend service academies. Gretna East running back Connor Sams is headed to the wild blue yonder to Air Force, while Millard South duo Carter Glab and Dayton Gaius are locked in to attend Army-West Point.
Twelve prospects signed with Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) schools on Wednesday, all of which are heading to play in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The second National Signing Day that will include Division II schools will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
