Class D-1
Top-ranked (Top 10) Dundy County-Stratton got off to a flying start with a 46-12 win over Perkins County. Ethan Latta went over 5,000 yards of offense in his career with 200 rushing yards and three scores to go along with another 59 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Defending state champion and third-ranked Sandy Creek and its youth movement smacked Johnson-Brock 56-26 to claim its 14th straight win. Sophomore Kam Sealey rushed and passed for 191 yards each and accounted for five touchdowns – four of which came on the ground. The Cougars are loaded with talented sophomores on offense and were impressive in Week 1.
In a four overtime barnburner, D-2 No. 3 Wynot outlasted eighth-ranked Crofton 78-76 to open the 2025 season. Wynot quarterback Devin Brummer completed 23 of 27 passes for 335 yards and seven touchdowns in the victory. Konner Koch and Braylon Hans both went over 130 receiving yards for the Bue Devils. In a huge Week 1 tilt, No. 2 Howells-Dodge held off No. 6 Lawrence-Nelson, 28-24. Hunter Luther rushed for two touchdowns for Howells-Dodge and made his mark on defense as well with 12 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks. For Lawrence-Nelson, junior quarterback Wyatt Frey accounted for 323 total yards and a pair of scores and recorded 13 tackles on defense.
Elmwood-Murdock jumped on the radar after a 30-16 victory over Bruning-Davenport/Shickley (BDS). Brody Marsh rushed for 193 tough yards and a touchdown while quarterback Dashiell Coleman accounted for. pair of scores for the Knights. Elmwood-Murdock trailed 16-14 at halftime before storming back in the third quarter with 16 unanswered points.
