Nebraska HS Football: Week 6 Top Performers

Taylor Nilson | Creighton | QB
– Nilson completed 23 of 32 passes for 315 yards and six touchdowns while adding 172 rushing yards and another pair of touchdowns in a 72-46 victory over Neligh-Oakdale. Ethan Kuhl hooked up with Nilson nine times in the victory for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Nilson has accounted for 38 touchdowns this season (21 passing, 17 rushing) for the 5-1 Bulldogs this season. In 2023, Creighton finished 3-5 and missed out on the playoffs.

Will Anderson and Tristian Gerez-James | Bellevue West – Anderson completed 14 of 21 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns in a 62-0 win over South Sioux City. Gerez-James, just a sophomore, rushed for three touchdowns for the Thunderbirds.

Cash Buettenback | Lincoln Southeast | RB – Buettenback rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries in a 49-6 win over Lincoln High.

Jackson Crawford | Lincoln Southwest | TE/LB – In a 50-21 victory over Lincoln High, Crawford recorded eight tackles, three and half tackles for loss, and two and a half sacks. Crawford also caught a touchdown pass for Southwest in the win. As a team, the Silver Hawks had 13 tackles for loss and six sacks.

Kylonn Haynie | Omaha Central | RB – The emerging sophomore rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns while adding 62 receiving yards and another score as the Eagles defeated Creighton Prep, 34-30.

Griffin Novacek | Kearney | QB – Novacek accounted for 327 yards and threw for a pair of touchdown passes in a 31-14 win over Papillion-La Vista South.

Zion Rush | Millard North | QB – Rush completed 18 of 27 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns in a 55-28 victory over Lincoln East. Pierce Mooberry, a Nebraska commit, caught eight passes for 197 yards for the Mustangs.

Luke Shaffar | Omaha Westview | QB – Schaffer threw for three touchdowns in a 42-13 win over Grand Island.

Gavin Shanahan | Elkhorn South | RB – Shanahan rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns in a 69-0 victory over Omaha Burke.

Jett Thomalla and Chase Loftin | Millard South – Thomalla completed 28 of 36 passes for 385 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-21 win over Papillion-La Vista. Loftin, Florida State commit, had seven catches for 114 yards and three touchdowns for the Patriots.

Braylen Warren and Tay Tay Jenkins | Omaha Westside – The sophomore duo led Omaha Westside to its 26th straight victory over Fremont, 63-6. Warren threw for three touchdowns while Jenkins rushed for 121 yards and three scores.

Class B

Elliott Anderson | Bennington | WR – Anderson caught four passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Blair. Quarterback Houston Hill, a college prospect as a long snapper, tossed four touchdown passes in the win for the Badgers.

Cesar Cano | Lexington | RB – Canon rushed for 286 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-18 win over Alliance.

Kayd Matthews | Elkhorn | QB – Matthews completed 21 of 29 passes for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 109 rushing yards in a 17-14 upset victory over rival Elkhorn North. Peyton Turman caught 12 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown for the Antlers.

Connor Sams | Gretna East | RB – In a 54-0 win over Platteview, Sams rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns.

Tory Schmid | York | QB – In a 43-14 win over Lincoln Northwest, Schmid completed 11 of 17 passes for three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown.

Logan Secora | Gretna | RB – Secora rushed for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Plattsmouth.

Dez Smith and Nate Kelley | Scottsbluff – In a 35-0 victory over Gering, Smith rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown. Kelley accounted for four touchdowns (three rushing, one passing) and rushed for 154 yards.

Dylan Van Dyke | Omaha Skutt | QB – Van Dyke completed 12 of 17 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns while adding 107 rushing yards and four touchdowns on five carries in a 55-14 victory over Lincoln Pius X. Joseph Kolega caught five passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns in the rout for the Skyhawks.

Canon Allen | Aurora | WR – Allen scored all three touchdowns in a 21-7 victory over Adams Central.

Quinn Bailey | Chadron | RB – Bailey eclipsed 5,000 career rushing yards with 286 yards and four touchdowns in a 32-6 win over Chase County. Bailey is averaging 284.3 yards per game this season and has 1,706 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Alek Doty | Sidney | QB – Doty accounted for 292 yards and six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in a 46-0 victory over Ogallala.

Corbin Kyes | Central City | RB – Kyes rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-50 victory over Lincoln Christian.

Noah Shoemaker | Cozad | QB – Shoemaker completed 12 of 19 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-7 win over Holdrege.

Jacob Tenski | Columbus Lakeview | RB – Tenski rushed for three touchdowns in a 49-7 win over Wayne.

Asa Wegrzyn | Lincoln Christian | RB – In a 52-50 loss to Central City, Wegrzyn rushed for 276 yards and accounted for six touchdowns (five rushing, one receiving.

Tycen Bennett | Doniphan-Trumbull | RB – Bennett rushed for three touchdowns in a 38-13 victory over Superior.

Conor Booth | Wahoo Neumann | RB – Booth rushed for 377 yards and eight touchdowns in a 53-7 victory over Malcolm. Booth is committed to Nebraska. Booth’s eight rushing touchdowns broke a Class C-2 state record which was held by Tyler VanSchoiack of Sutherland, who had seven in 2004.

Trace Buechle | Valentine | QB – Buechle accounted for 221 yards and four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) in 45-26 win over Mitchell.

Killian McIntosh | Arlington | RB – McIntosh rushed for 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 38-14 win over North Bend Central.

Henry Prokop | Lincoln Lutheran | RB – The junior rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-7 victory over Conestoga.

Beau Rohrich | Wood River | RB – Rohrich rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns in a 61-18 win over Fillmore Central.

Grayson Sack | Grand Island Central Catholic | QB – Sack accounted for 319 yards and three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing) in a 31-28 win over Ord.

Jacob Bryner | Hemingford | QB – Bryner accounted for four touchdowns (three rushing, one passing) in a 26-6 win over Sutherland.

William Cacy and Grayson Koller | Arapahoe – Cacy and Koller both rushed for a pair of touchdowns and returned interceptions for scores in a 56-16 win over Alma.

Leyton Connell | Sandhills Valley | QB – Connell accounted for four touchdowns (three rushing, one passing) in a 32-24 win over West Holt.

Kyle Cox | Sandhills/Thedford | QB – Cox accounted for six touchdowns (four rushing, two passing) in a 58-0 win over Brady.

Wyatt Crossley | Clarkson-Leigh | RB – Crossley ran for 185 yards and four touchdowns in a 58-36 win over Humphrey-Lindsay.

Fletcher Dubas | Fullerton | QB – Dubas accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) in a 36-27 win over Nebraska Christian.

Gavin Hardeman | Lyons-Decatur Northeast | RB – Hardeman rushed for four touchdowns in a 63-6 win over Randolph.

Gage Hedstrom | O’Neill St. Mary’s | QB – Hedstrom accounted for six touchdowns (three passing, three rushing) in a 68-28 win over Elgin/Pope John.

Morgan Kinney | Ainsworth | RB – Kinney rushed for four touchdowns in 70-30 win over North Central.

Jack Mott | Riverside | RB – Mott ran for 225 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-20 victory over previously-unbeaten Howells-Dodge.

Jacob Barber | Southwest | RB – Barber ran for 230 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-20 victory over Medicine Valley.

Jackson Bullis | Hampton | RB – In a 45-34 win over Shelton, Bullis rushed for 244 yards and four touchdowns.

Jett Farwell | Pawnee City | RB – Farwell rushed for 244 yards and five touchdowns on 12 carries in a 61-0 win over Lewiston.

Jordan Scoville | Sumner-Eddyville-Miller | QB – Scoville rushed for 197 yards and five touchdowns in a 48-20 win over Wauenta-Palisade.

Alec Watchorn | Leyton | QB – Watchorn accounted for 253 yards and five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) in a 65-18 win over Creek Valley.
