Player of the Week

Michael Knudsen | Gretna | QB – In his first start, Knudsen completed 23 of 28 passes for 359 yards and totaled five touchdowns in a 38-28 victory over Elkhorn. Knudsen threw for three scores in the victory, while two came on the ground. Knudsen, a 6’2/205 junior, has waited patiently for his turn to run the Dragons on offense, and is expected to fully maximize his opportunity. Knudsen will sky rocket on recruiting boards sooner rather than later with performances such as the season opener. Very much watch this space. Bryce Lakers caught nine passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns as Knudsen’s go-to receiver in the season opener.

Team of the Week

Raymond Central – Perhaps Fillmore Central was rated a little too high at No. 4 in the preseason, but nonetheless the Mustangs came to play to open their campaign with a 28-8 win over a Class C-2 semifinalist from a year ago. Junior wide receiver Tavion Johnson caught two passes for 99 yards and two scores while also picking off a pass on defense. Raymond Central vaulted into the Class C-2 Top 10 at No. 9 this week.

Canon Allen | Aurora | WR – The junior caught six passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-24 loss to Pierce.

Braylon Anderson | Oakland-Craig | QB – Anderson completed 17 of 24 passes for 448 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-14 win over Yutan. Anderson also rushed for a touchdown for the Knights.

Quinn Bailey | Chadron | RB – After nearly rushing for 2,000 yards a season ago, Bailey got off to a fast start in 2024 rushing for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 28-8 win over Broken Bow.

Brogan Benes | Boone Central | RB – Benes rushed for 203 yards in a 14-0 victory over Hartington Cedar Catholic.

Houston Billeter | Southwest | QB – Billeter completed 8 of 12 passes for 285 yards and five touchdowns in a 71-34 win over Heartland Lutheran. Deric Kelley caught four passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns for Southwest.

Conner Brown | Ralston | RB – In a 44-0 win over Lincoln Northwest, Brown rushed for 160 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries.

Jackson Bullis | Hampton | RB – The Week 0 NEBHSFB,com Player of the Week in 2023, Bullis bulldozed Parkview Christian and blitzed his way to eight scores in a 72-28 victory over Parkview Christian. Bullis rushed for 152 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries while adding three receptions for 189 yards with all three catches going for touchdowns. Bullis also hauled back a kickoff to the house. Wyatt Dose completed 5 of 8 passes for 232 yards and four scores in the win.

William Cacy | Arapahoe | RB – Cacy rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries in a 44-14 victory over Cambridge.

Mac Carlson | Wausa/Osmond | QB – In Wausa/Osmond’s first game together as a co-op, the sophomore rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 100 yards through the air and two more scores in a 50-32 win over Wakefield.

Calvin Carraher | Franklin | QB – Carraher rushed for 237 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-6 win over Southern Valley. Carraher also threw for 113 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

Nate Collins | Omaha Burke | QB – In a 62-0 victory over Omaha Benson, Collins compiled 240 total yards and accounted for five touchdowns all in the first half. Marcus Buchanan caught three passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns in the victory for the Bulldogs.

Kyle Cox | Sandhills/Thedford | QB/DB – After rushing for 2,900 yards and 55 touchdowns while leading his team to the D-2 state title as year ago, Cox only needed two quarters to get his 2024 season off to a blistering start. Cox compiled 245 total yards and four touchdowns on offense while picking off a pair of passes returning one for six points in a 58-16 win over Anselmo-Merna.

Emmitt Dirks | York | QB- Dirks completed 16 of 26 through the air for 324 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 75 tough yards on the ground on 25 carries in a 17-14 win over Hastings. Declan Peterson caught five passes for 142 yards and both of Dirks’ scoring strikes for the Dukes. Dirks was within five yards of breaking the school record for total yardage in a game held by Garrett Snodgrass (403).

Jett Farwell | Pawnee City | ATH – Farwell rushed fo 190 yards and five touchdowns on 15 carries in a 57-6 win over Meridian.

Gage Friesen | High Plains | RB – Friesen rushed for 233 yards and five touchdowns in a 50-14 win over North Central.

Kaiden Fritz | Pierce | RB – Fritz rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in a 41-24 win over Aurora. Fritz also recorded nine tackles and a sack on defense.

Corbin Guill | Oakland-Craig | ATH- In a 34-14 win over Yutan, Guill caught seven passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns.

Tresten Hass | Seward | QB – The junior quarterback completed 16 of 22 passes for 245 yards and two scores through the air while adding another 64 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 41-24 win over Gretna East.

Cole Heimes | Hartington/Newcastle | QB – Heimes rushed for 236 yards and five touchdowns in a 54-34 victory over Ainsworth.

Orrin Kuehn | Minden | RB – Kuehn rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns in a hard-fought 18-15 triple-overtime victory over Adams Central. Kuehn also recorded eight tackles and three sacks on defense for the Whippets.

Chase Loftin | Millard South | WR/TE – The Florida State pledge caught 13 passes for 128 yards and xxxxx touchdowns in a 39-25 loss at Basha (AZ).

Gatlin Reimers | Palmer | QB – Reimers rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns and added 74 passing yards in a 32-30 loss to Fullerton.

Paydon Rinkol | Twin River | RB – Rinkol rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns in a 54-0 win over Giltner.

Issac Pamaran | Papillion-La Vista | Whatever You Need – Pamaran was the major difference in Papillion-La Vista’s rival victory over Papillion-La Vista South. In the 29-24 win, Pamaran scored on a 7-yard run after making an amazing grab from quarterback Cam Leggett.. Pamaran returned a kickoff 88 yards for a score in the fourth quarter to win it for the Monarchs.

Grayson Sack | Grand Island Central Catholic | QB – Sack picked up where he left off after a successful sophomore campaign, completing 19 of 27 passes for 313 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-13 win over Hastings. St. Cecilia. Sack also picked up 70 rushing yards in the rout. Graham Stava caught seven passes for 146 yards and all four of Sack’s touchdown strikes in the victory.

Austin Scheuler | Fremont Bergan | QB – The junior completed 13 of 20 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-14 win over Conestoga. Junior Gavin Baker (6’5/210) caught four passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights.

Jace Schukar | Loomis | RB – Schuker rushed for 203 yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries in. a 48-6 victory over Blue Hill.

Jackson Schutt | Fremont | DB – Schutt intercepted two passes for the Tigers in a 49-7 season opening win over Bellevue East. Fremont led 49-0 at halftime. Da’Varius Bell rushed for three first half touchdowns to pace Fremont on offense.

Gavin Shanahan | Elkhorn South | RB- Shanahan rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-5 victory over Lincoln East.

Ethan Shaw | Sandy Creek | QB – In a 60-8 victory over Johnson-Brock, Shaw completed 9 of 16 passes for 129 yards and three scores while picking 182 yards on the ground and three more scores.

Cole Signor | Norfolk | QB – Making his first start, Signor made headlines with 298 yards and four passing touchdowns in a 35-28 overtime victory over Columbus. Drew Streich caught seven passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers. NCN Nebraska Recap

Charlie Sullivan | Lutheran Northeast | QB – Sullivan completed 9 of 18 passes for 293 yards and five touchdowns in a 53-32 loss to Wisner-Pilger. Gavin Feddern caught eight passes for 258 yards and four scores in a losing effort.

Dylan Tabor | Potter-Dix | RB – Tabor rushed for 253 yards and four touchdowns in a 62-43 win over Peetz (CO). Tabor averaged more than 18 yards per carry in the victory.

Templar

Brock Templar | Blair | RB – Templar rushed for three touchdowns in a 56-12 win over Lincoln Standing Bear, including 96-yard run in the second quarter to give the Bears a 35-0 lead.

Trini Trejo | Alliance | RB – A sophomore, Trejo got the bulk of the load in Alliance’s 28-15 victory over Gordon-Rushville. Trejo carried the ball 42 times for 225 yards and three touchdowns for the Bulldogs in the victory.

Dylan Van Dyke | Omaha Skutt | QB – Van Dyke tied a school record with four touchdown passes in a 29-13 victory over Norris.

Caden VerMaas | Millard North | ATH – The Nebraska commit got off to fast start in Millard North’s 29-21 win over rival Millard West. VerMaas scored on a 71-yard touchdown run and hooked up with newcomer junior quarterback Zion Rush on a 64-yard touchdown strike in the win. Millard North stopped a late rally by the Wildcats at the goal-line late in the narrow victory.

Michael Voichoskie | Columbus | RB – Voichoskie rushed for four touchdowns in a 35-28 overtime loss to Norfolk.

Warren

Braylen Warren | Omaha Westside | QB – Making his first start, the sophomore led Westside to a season-opening 22-7 victory over Omaha North. Warren threw for 185 yards and two scores while adding a rushing touchdown in Westside’s 21st straight victory.The future is very bright for this prospect.

Asa Wegrzyu | Lincoln Christian | RB – Wegrzyn rushed for 228 yards on 15 carries, including touchdown runs of 84 and 47 yards, in a 28-14 rivalry victory over Lincoln Lutheran in the Battle of the Spirit Sword. KLKN Highlights

Nelsyn Wheeler | Grand Island | RB – The vastly underrated junior running back rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-20 loss to Lincoln Southeast. Wheeler also caught six passes for 35 yards. Odessa, TX move-in Jalen Warren caught 10 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown for the Islanders.

Peyton Wickersham | Boyd County | DL – In a 38-14 victory over North Central, the stophomore recorded eight tackles for four sacks.

Barrett Wilke | Stanton | QB – The defending D-1 state champions got off to a good start in a 42-16 win over Bloomfield. Wilke rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns and completed 8 of 12 passes for 128 yards.

Reiman Zebert | Platteview | WR/TE – Zebert caught four passes for 70 yards and a touchdown while adding another score on the ground in a 14-0 victory over Crete. Zebert is committed to Stanford.

Parker Zikmund | Central City | QB – The junior completed 11 of 22 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-8 win over Ord. Wyatt Dent caught seven passes for 161 yards and four touchdowns for the Bison.
