Preseason Offensive MVP

Omaha Westside athlete and linebacker Christian Jones has been named the NEBHSFB.com Preseason Defensive Most Valuable Player for the 2024 season.
Jones, who will participate in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio after the season, was a First Team All-State selection by the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal-Star after recording 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and an interception.
The linebacker also was an explosive offensive weapon for the back-to-back Class A state champions, snagging 20 passes for 500 yards (25.0 yards per catch) and nine touchdowns.
Considered one of the Top 300 prospects in the nation according to most recruiting publications, Jones narrowed his choices down to Nebraska, Miami (FL), and Oklahoma in early August and set a timeline.
Omaha Westside has a 25-1 record over the past two seasons and has won 18 straight games heading into the 2024 season. The defending champions will open on Thursday, August 29 at home against Omaha North.
Omaha North defensive tackle Tyson Terry could have been 1B on a Most Valuable Player list, putting together one of the most impressive freshman highlight tapes for an interior defensive linemen these eyes have ever seen while being consistently dominant ever since. Expect Millard North linebacker and Nebraska pledge Pierce Mooberry to have a huge season. Meanwhile, Bellevue West junior defensive back Kaprice Keith will be a Power 4 prospect sooner rather than later.
