Class A:
- District 1:
- Lincoln East (3-2, 1-0), 40.2000
- Lincoln High (3-2, 0-0), 39.0000
- Millard South (2-3, 1-0), 38.0000
- Lincoln North Star (2-3, 0-1), 36.8000
- Columbus (1-5, 0-1), 34.8333
– Lincoln East is 3-2 with some tough games forthcoming where sophomore quarterback Jeter Worthley has played well with elite level talent Malachi Coleman heating up. Millard South lost a few without quarterback Camden Kozeal, who is back to make the Patriots a completely different team. Lincoln High has some talent on its roster and will be a tough out. Lincoln North Star has been competitive and are playing a pair of young quarterbacks. Columbus has struggled at times since winning its opener, but has a young roster that is gaining experience every week.
- District 2:
- Gretna (5-0, 1-0), 43.4000
- Bellevue West (4-2, 1-0), 41.8333
- Papillion-LaVista South (4-1, 0-0), 41.2000
- Bellevue East (3-2, 0-1), 39.0000
- Omaha South (2-3, 0-1), 35.0000
– Gretna has been rolling and has a huge game this week against No. 6 Bellevue West. Zane Flores has rarely played in the second half, but the Dragons are battle-tested with a tightly contested win over Creighton Prep. Bellevue West has an explosive offense and will be in every game from here on out. Papillion-LaVista South is No. 9 this week with its only blemish coming to No. 3 Elkhorn South. Bellevue East and Omaha South have shown promise at times this season, with the Packers being of particular interest with its three-headed monster on offense. Wide receiver Aric Thomas should be on more recruiting radars with his performances this season.
- District 3:
- Omaha Westside (5-0, 1-0), 46.4000
- Kearney (5-0, 1-0), 44.6000
- Norfolk (3-2, 0-1), 40.2000
- North Platte (2-3, 0-1), 39.8000
- Lincoln Northeast (0-5, 0-0), 31.2000
– Top-ranked Omaha Westside has clearly been the cream of the crop this season in Class A, winning most of its games comfortably. Quarterback Anthony Rezac has been steady on offense and continues to quietly post impressive numbers. Kearney has been equally impressive, especially in its road win at Bellevue West. Treyven Beckman has the Bearcats moving on offense along with his sneaky talented receiving corps. Norfolk has some talent on offense along with defensive lineman Jackson Bos and will be a threat for a playoff push moving forward. As will North Platte, who has been competitive in its three losses coming to ranked teams. Lincoln Northeast is in rebuilding mode at the moment with some younger talent gaining valuable experience on what should be a much improved team in 2023.
- District 4:
- Creighton Prep (3-3, 1-0), 39.0000
- Papillion-LaVista (2-3, 1-0), 38.6000
- Omaha Central (1-4, 0-0), 36.4000
- Omaha Benson (2-3, 0-1), 36.2000
- Omaha Burke (0-5, 0-1), 33.0000
– Creighton Prep is amongst the second tier of top teams in Class A and will be in the thick of the state title discussion by November. Chamar Brown is amongst the leading rushers in Class A. Papillion-LaVista is absolutely in the playoff discussion and owns an impressive win over Lincoln Southwest. Omaha Central is breaking in younger players all over the place, which will benefit the Eagles long term. The Eagles simply do not quit, which is another thing that will pay off in the future. Omaha Benson has some talent on offense, including freshmen DaShawn Prince and Avry Davis. Extremely hard work in the offseason is staring to show on Friday nights and will continue to do so in the future. Omaha Burke is undergoing a transition under a new head coach at the moment. Despite the lack of success, defensive back Za’Kye Parrott (6’4/195) might be worth a look in the recruiting world.
- District 5:
- Elkhorn South (5-0, 1-0), 44.6000
- Grand Island (4-1, 1-0), 43.0000
- Omaha North (4-1, 0-0), 40.6000
- Fremont (1-5, 0-1), 34.8333
- Omaha Northwest (0-5, 0-1), 31.8000
– Elkhorn South has only been tested once this season and has not been playing its starters much past the first quarter the past few weeks. The Storm are definitely in the state title discussion as of Week 5. Grand Island‘s only loss of the campaign came to top-ranked Omaha Westside. Omaha North’s lone loss came by two points to Bellevue West. With Class A leading rusher Te’Shaun Porter available, the Vikings are a serious threat. Sophomore quarterback Sebastian Circo and sophomore defensive lineman Tyson Terry has been as good as advertised. Fremont has had some success on offense at times in 2022, led by quarterback Hudson Cunnings. Omaha Northwest is under a rebuilding effort, with participation numbers being a massive issue for the Huskies.
- District 6:
- Lincoln Southwest (4-1, 1-0), 41.8000
- Lincoln Southeast (3-2, 1-0), 40.2000
- Millard North (2-3, 0-1), 37.4000
- Omaha Bryan (2-3, 0-1), 36.8000
- Millard West (2-3, 1-0), 36.2000
- South Sioux City (2-3, 0-1), 35.6000
- – You may as well put Lincoln Southwest, Lincoln Southeast, Millard North, and Millard West into a hat to see who comes out of this district alive for a playoff berth. All four teams have a solid argument as to why they should be the favorite and all four teams, in theory, could win the district. Playoff points are going to matter to the last number, so anything is possible. Heading into the season with preseason picks, it was difficult to project what would happen in District A-6. That has not changed. Omaha Bryan has improved with some weapons on offense and linebacker Cole Rickley putting in an All-State level performance. South Sioux City is dangerous on offense with sophomore Darrius Helms and running back Tony Palmer having success at times, including in a 67-60 win over Omaha South.
