Teams To Watch:

Millard West (1-3) – vs. South Sioux City
Norfolk (3-1) – at No. 1 Omaha Westside
North Platte (2-2) – at No. 5 Kearney
Comments: Omaha Westside, Gretna, and Elkhorn South are comfortable in the top three. Omaha North leads the one-loss teams at No. 4, while No. 5 Kearney is 4-0 with a quality road win at Bellevue West in Week 4. Bellevue West falls to No. 6. Papillion-LaVista South returns at No. 10 after a one-week absence. It’s probably unfair to drop Millard South out without quarterback Camden Kozeal for three weeks and being without Brock Murtaugh in a loss to Gretna in Week 4. Millard South was playing three freshmen on offense in the loss. You probably haven’t heard the last of Millard South. Also of note, Lincoln Southwest and Bellevue East are both 3-1.
Class B, C-1, C-2 Top 10, Top Performers

Thomas Equals Class A State Record
– Omaha South wide receiver Aric Thomas caught 13 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns in a 67-60 loss to South Sioux City. With his 282 yards, Thomas tied a Class A state record that was set by Skyler Monaghan of Millard West against Creighton Prep in 2012. Thomas has 571 receiving yards and eight touchdowns this season in three games. At 6’3 and 180 pounds, Thomas is a prospect that ought to be on college radars if he is not already. Thomas put together good junior tape and has built upon his success.
Millard North
– There is something happening at Millard North that should be noted for not only this season, but very much in the future. The Mustangs, 2-2 after leading No. 1 Omaha Westside before falling 35-23, have emerging junior quarterback Evan Hansen and a host of contributing sophomores including athlete Caden VerMaas, tight end/defensive end Pierce Mooberry, and defensive lineman Henry Rehberg. Hansen has had a hand in nine touchdowns this season. The Mustangs have a decent test this week against 2-2 Lincoln Southeast, which should feature outstanding line play from both squads.
