No. 2 Gretna 44, Omaha Burke 0 – No. 2 Gretna rolled to a 44-0 victory over Omaha Burke to open its defense of the Class A state championship from last season. Oklahoma State verbal Zane Flores completed 13-of-16 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, including a 51-yard strike to Joe Roll to give the Dragons a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Kearney 14, Lincoln East 6 – Ethan Kowalek broke free on a 68-yard touchdown run with 9:50 left to help Kearney claim a 14-6 road victory over Lincoln East. Lincoln East scored on a 65-yard touchdown run by junior Dash Baumann in the loss.
Sioux City North (IA) 44, South Sioux City 0 – South Sioux City opened on the road with a 44-0 loss to Sioux City North. Former South Sioux City running back Demarico Young rushed for 196 yards against his former team in the victory for the Stars.

No. 8 Chadron 41, Gordon-Rushville 13 – Seth Gaswick scored on touchdown passes of 88 and 82 yards from junior quarterback Broc Berry as No. 8 Chadron opened the season with a victory over Gordon-Rushville. Berry threw for three touchdown passes, including another to Xander Provance, and added a rushing score to lead the Cardinals to the victory.
No. 7 Adams Central 28, Minden 7 – Nick Conant scored two touchdowns as No. 7 Adams Central opened the season with a 28-7 victory over Minden. Conant finished with 178 total yards to lead the Patriots, while quarterback Sam Dierks threw for 193 yards in the victory.
Fairbury 35, Tri County 0 – Jax Biehl completed 14-of-20 passes for 320 yards and five touchdown passes as Fairbury opened its season with a 35-0 victory over Tri County.
