Team Capsules

1. Lincoln Pius X Thunderbolts
Head Coach: Mike Aldrich
2021 Record: 2-7 (Off. Avg: 20.3 | Def. Avg: 30.1)
Postseason: Has not qualified for postseason since 2020
2022 Schedule: 8/26 vs. Scottsbluff; 9/2 @ Seward; 9/9 vs. Hastings; 9/16 vs. Bennington; 9/23 @ Crete
9/29 @ Omaha Skutt Catholic; 10/14 @ Beatrice; 10/21 vs. Norris
Preview: Lincoln Pius X drops to Class B after spending six years with the big boys, qualifying for the playoffs in five straight seasons before missing out in 2021. Leading the offense for the six-time Class B state champion is QB Tyrus Petsche, with RB Matt Bohy also returning. OL/DL Barrett Walker should lead the front for the Thunderbolts, while LB Ben Andreasen (6’0/200) could emerge as a leader on defense. (KLKN-8 Report)
2. Beatrice
Head Coach: Jeff Kezeor
2021 Record: 6-4 (Off. Avg: 29.9 | Def. Avg: 31.6)
Postseason: Lost to Scottsbluff in Class B first round, 54-21.
2022 Schedule: 8/26 vs. Omaha Gross Catholic; 9/2 vs. Waverly; 9/9 @ Omaha Skutt Catholic; 9/16 @ Lincoln Northwest; 9/23 vs. Plattsmouth; 9/30 vs. Norris; 10/6 @ Crete; 10/14 vs. Lincoln Pius X; 10/21 @ Seward
Preview: Coming off back-to-back playoff appearances, Beatrice is looking for its first playoff victory since 2016. RB/LB Deegan Nelson (1,097 rushing yards, 15 TD’s) is a good place to start on offense. WR Luke Feist (6’3/200) and TE/LB Tucker Timmerman (6’2/195) also return to boost the defense for Beatrice. Watch out for junior OLDL Takeo Glynn (6’2/255). Expect this team to be in the playoff hunt once again in District B-4. (NewsChannel Nebraska Preview)
3. Norris Titans
Head Coach: Ty Twarling
2021 Record: 4-6 (Off. Avg: 32.1 | Def. Avg: 24.6)
Postseason: Lost to Skutt Catholic in Class B first round, 31-10.

Preview: After winning playoff games in 2019 and 2020, the Titans got a tough draw in the first round last season and were unable to advance. Norris had a productive offense in 2021, averaging over 355 yards per game. Most of the production from that offense has been lost due to graduation, with WR/DB Micah Langston leading the holdovers along with OL/DL Hunter Davis (6’6/320).
4. Crete Cardinals
Head Coach: Mark Newmyer
2021 Record: 2-7 (Off. Avg: 25.1 | Def. Avg: 40.3)

Preview: Four-time Class B state champion Crete is looking for its first playoff appearance since 2014. A large portion of the offensive production from a yea ago has graduated, so look for newcomers to emerge with Tadd TeBrink (233 rushing, TD; 33 tackles, 2 TFL) looking to see more of the workload. LB Brayton Zeibig (61 tackles) is the top returning prospect on defense for the Cardinals.
